Results of model for prevention of bacterial wild disease on cucumbers in An Giang province
Before the situation of bacterial wilt disease caused by bacteria on cucumber plants takes place increasingly complex, causing serious damage and reduced productivity by 80-90%. The prevention and treatment of this disease is the concern of many management agencies and farmers.
Understanding the difficulties of farmers, National center for technological progress – HCM branch was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology to carry out the ministry level project “Research on creating biological products resistant to bacterial wilt disease on cucumber plants (Cucumis sativus) caused by the bacterium Ralstonia solanacearum”.
The application model of the project’s products is made at Mr. Nguyen Van Dung (Năm Mỹ) garden, in Phu An 2 hamlet, Binh Hoa commune, Chau Thanh district, An Giang province. The results showed that the ability to prevent and treat bacterial wilt disease was over 80%, the yield of the garden increased by 60% compared to the same period last year. Besides, the product of the topic also help to reduce some diseases caused by fungi.

The study meet the requirements set out. However, with the goal of building an effective and suitable process for prevention and treatment of bacterial wilt disease on cucumber in many different cultivation conditions, the Branch continues to carry out many test models to evaluate and perfect the product. When the model is completed, the process will be transferred to extension centers and farmers for widespread application.
