Efficient prevention of bacterial wild disease on cucumbers by biological measures.
Cucumber is a type of important fruit and vegetable, grown for a long time in the world and has become the food of many countries. In Mekong Delta – Viet Nam, cucumber is grown quite popularly. Especially in the context of very low efficiency in rice cultivation on many soils; cucumber is one of the good alternatives. It is estimated that if not affected much by pests and diseases, the profit from growing cucumber is 10 times higher than that of growing rice. Recently, Cultivation of cucumbers has begun to become high risk due to the development of pests and diseases. In particular, bacterial wilt disease on cucumber is considered the most dangerous disease.
Causes of bacterial wilt on cucumbers
Bacterial wilt disease on cucumber is caused by Ralstonia solanacearum.
Symptoms of bacterial wilt disease on cucumbers
- R. solanacearum enter the plant through mechanical wounds caused by nematodes, insects or through natural openings in plant roots and multiply rapidly in the vasculature causing the vessels to become blocked, bacteria can continue to invade adjacent tissues. In this process, bacteria produce extracellular enzyme systems such as pectinase, cellulase to decompose plant cells and tissues and produce toxins that block blood vessels, hinder the transport of water and nutrients in plants, making wilted tree.
Symptoms of bacterial wilt on cucumbers
- Bacterial wilt disease on cucumbers initially occurs scattered on each plant or group of plants in the middle of the field and then spreads to the whole field in a short time. The first symptom on older plants is slight wilting of the lower leaves; But in seedlings, the young leaves wilt first. The phenomenon of wilting occurs when it is sunny, in the early morning and in the evening the tree is fresh again; after 2-3 days the tree cannot recover anymore and dies completely. When uprooting the tree, the trunk and roots are black rot, soft. Cut across the stem of the vascular plant has the phenomenon of turning black, when dipping the stem in a glass of water, milky white drops of fluid flow from the cut.
Precautionary Measures
Nacentech HCM has researched and created products to effectively control bacterial wilt disease on cucumbers, includes stages:
- Treat the soil thoroughly before planting. Supplementing with microbial products Nacen Bacillus and Nacen Trichoderma when fertilizing, these are microorganisms that help kill disease fungi, prevent fungal diseases from reentering the roots, and help roots grow strong and strong. Note to prevent root-damaging nematodes with Nacen Metargizium and Nacen Paecilomyces products .
- During the growth of cucumber plants, spray Nacen nano copper; spray to wet the stems and leaves to disinfect and kill harmful fungi.
- When the garden shows signs of infection, chemical fertilizers should not be applied. Spray Nano copper twice in a row, 2-3 days apart, if the tree density is heavy. After the diseased plants have recovered, amino acid foliar fertilizers should be added, because this is an easily digestible, soluble, and easily absorbed form of fertilizer.
