The 19th anniversary of the establishment of National Center for Technological Progress – HCM Branch

On April 20, 2021, the Branch of National Center for Technological Progress in HCM (NACNEHO) solemnly held the 19th Anniversary of the establishment of the Branch. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong – Deputy Director of the Department of Southern Affairs – Ministry of Science and Technology, Ass. Dr. Nguyen Phu Hung – Director of the National Center for Technological Progress, Mr. Bui Van Quyen – Former Director Department of Southern Affairs, Dr. Vo Dinh Quang – Former Director of NACENHO, representatives of functional departments, leaders of units and branch staffs over the period.

The Branch in Ho Chi Minh City was formed on that by merging 2 units, including: Center for Technology Cooperation between Vietnam and Korea and Center for Technology Implementation in Decision No. 796/QD-BKHCNMT dated 11 April 2002 by the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment on the establishment of the Branch of National Center for Technological Progress in HCM (NACNEHO)

The functions and main tasks of the Branch are:

• Coordinate with NACENTECH’s centers to introduce, deploy, apply and transfer advanced technologies resulting from NACENHO’s research results to the Southern provinces.
• Participating, organizing and training managers of science and technology; professional manpower; involved in formulating policies to the development of science and technology resources of the South.
• Participating in cooperation, joint-venture, technology transfer with domestic and foreign organizations in the fields of operation. Implementing science and technology service activities to meet the needs of society in the Southern provinces.
• Participating in consulting and appraising technology innovation that is suitable to the scope of works, capabilities of the Branch as well.
• Market research on the applied science and technology into productions and businesses of the Southern provinces.

Over 19 years of contribution and development, the Branch has achieved remarkable achievements with many outstanding projects such as: 14 ministerial-level projects, 04 ministerial-level pilot production projects, engaging number activities of international cooperation projects.

During the period 2002-2020, the Branch cooperated with the University of Food Technology in Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, Ho Chi Minh University of Science, the Southern Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology which has educated thousands of engineers, masters and doctors to provide high-quality human resources for society. In which, many people after graduation, have created their own prestigious position in organizations and workplaces.

With the results achieved in the period 2002-2020, the Branch has been awarded many certificates of merit by the Director of NACEN Hcm and the Minister of Science and Technology for successfully fulfilling its assigned responsibilities and duties.

In the next 5 years, with the goal of building a Branch’s continued growth, NACENHO’s leaders has issued an operational plan and merged with NACENTECH’s strategic orientations such as: Applying technology 4.0, applied science and technology, especially high-tech, developing new eco-friendly materials; Enhance research efficiency, put into practice, associate with practical socio-economic life; Deploy and expand cooperation relationships in local and abroad, shorten the gap with developed countries and move up to regional level.

Speaking at the Celebration, Associate professor PhD Nguyen Phu Hung – Director of the National of Technological progress, congratulated the Branch’s achievements in recent years, the branch has made many positive and important contributions to the development of science and technology in the Southern region. Ass. Dr. Nguyen Phu Hung also wishes that the branch leader will have specific plans and solutions to affirm its position and have stronger development, making good contributions to the development of the nation.

Following the above event, the Branch also held a gratitude ceremony to Dr. Vo Dinh Quang – Former Nacen Hcm Branch Director. He was instrumental in steering and laying the foundation of the Branch in the period 2002-2020.

Mr. Truong Minh Ngoc – Nacen Hcm Branch Director reviewed some outstanding achievements of Dr. Vo Dinh Quang, former Director of NACENHO, especially his contribution on issues such as: Science and technology development, science and technology implementation, human resource training, international cooperation and executive management.

With the enthusiastic contributions of Dr. Vo Dinh Quang for 19 years, Mr. Truong Minh Ngoc, on behalf of employees of the Branch expressed appreciation, respect and gratitude to the person who laid the foundation to the Branch’s development.
